After discovering dotting tools, I found out that there are a lot of items you need in order to create cute designs. For example, I did not know that you need a base coat. I thought it was just to help the lacquer stick to the nail better, but also to protect your natural nails from stains. Base coats are about the same price of a polish. Top coats are used to protect your design from chipping and use of your nails. Some companies offer a formula that provides a base and top coat in one.
I am also learning to take care of my cuticles. From what I have read, I am going to need cuticle cream (moisturize?) and a good cuticle pusher.
I usually buy Sally Hansen polishes because they are affordable, but I would really like to buy O.P.I. polishes. They do not sell them at my local Walmart :-/. They only sell the Nicole by OPI line, and the selection is limited. I do not know where my closest salon is to purchase them.
My dotting tools!
