Spring Time Dots and Rings

Springy colors! If you have a lot of time of your hands (at least an hour or so) try out this colorful manicure. All you need are five different base polishes (or two if you prefer). I painted each nail the base color and then dotted on four different colors to match. Once dry, I used the base color to fill in the dots to give the look of rings instead of dots. I used dotting tools, but a toothpick or end of a bobby pin will work as well.

Slight smudging on my thumb
Colors used are Wet n Wild's On a Trip and I Need a Refesh-Mint, Pure Ice's Love and Wild Thing, and Sinful Colors' Unicorn.

Wet n Wild - On a Trip

I have a few products from wet n wild's cosmetic line, but I think this is one of the first polishes I have purchased by them. I was looking for more creme finishes in pastel/springy colors to add to my collection, and I picked up On a Trip and I Need a Refresh-Mint. I was looking for the Sugar Rush collection from Sinful Colors, but only found Unicorn (pastel yellow.)

At first, I didn't like the brush in the MegaLast bottles. But I actually do like after using it for about two coats. It covers a wide range on the nail and does not make it streaky or uneven. It reminds of the Nicole by O.P.I. brushes, but a little bigger and thicker. On a Trip is a bit deeper than a lilac color. The pictures below are in artificial lighting, I will add natural lighting later.

Drippy Glitzy Green with Envy

Avoid getting pinched with these drippy green nails! They also remind me of Nickelodeon's slime time days. Well, the light green does anyway. It's just the right color of creamy green sliminess. The light green is Sally Hansen's Green with Envy from the Xtreme Wear line, and the sparkly dark green is Salon Perfect's Glitzy Green. I have also used Sally Hansen's Golden-I as an accent nail, but in pictures, it just does not look gold. It's not a rich gold color. A darker gold would probably blend in a little better.

All images are in natural lighting.

I used a dotting tool to get the drippy effect. I've also switched my base coat from L.A. Colors base coat/top coat to Sally's Beauty Secrets base coat. I've had much less peeling, so a good base coat does help. It was pretty cheap too, only about $3.00. My Sally Hansen top coat has been goopy lately, so I switched to Revlon's quick speed top coat, which is also really good. It leaves a lovely shine.

Sinful Colors - Fantasy

Fantasy is part of Sinful Colors limited edition "Almost Famous" collection. It is a jelly glitter, and it has so much glitter. Micro glitter, shimmer glitter, chunky glitter, rainbow glitter...super glittery. The bigger chunks of glitter are similar to confetti glitter while the micro and shimmer glitter have a silvery tone. I put two coats of Fantasy over two coats of Pure Ice's Kiss Me Here, which is a really pretty, creamy gray. Fantasy is applies a little thick, so be sure to use thin layers.

Revlon - Whimsical Swatch

Revlon has a really nice selection of nail enamels. Some popular choices include Radiant, a glittery blue with blue and silver chunky glitter, Sparkling, a chunky glitter with a metallic like pink glitter pieces - similar to Essie's A Cut Above, Scandalous, a black jelly with purple chunky glitter, and Whimsical, a light blue jelly with pink and blue chunky glitter. I have swatched Whimsical over Sally Hansen's Breezy Blue since it is so sheer. I've used Sparkling in another post which can be viewed here.

Chocolate Chip Cookies

I saw another user create this cute cookie manicure and wanted to recreate it with pink instead of blue. There's a little smudging from the top coat, but I think it turned out fine.

I really like the brown and pink colors together. They blend really well. The colors used are Pure Ice's Love, China Glaze's Kalahari Kiss, and Nicole by OPI's Razzle Dazzler. Her colors used are China Glazes's For Audrey and Kalahari Kiss and used Revlon's French Roast as the chips. Here is a link to what her design looks like.
