Watermelon Nails Revisited

I originally did this design back in 2011, I'm pretty sure I was inspired by CutePolish at the time but I don't really remember because that was when I didn't have internet at my house...so I'm not really sure where the inspiration came from. But just look at that comparison! It goes to show you that practice and patience help when it comes to painting. I had no idea about base coats, top coats, cuticle care, nail tools, etc. But now I have so many different tools and colors for so many different things! So don't be discouraged if your nail art doesn't look as good as the ones on your instagram feed. They had to start somewhere, just like you did. Just like I did. I'm no where near perfect nor am I at a nail technicians level. I am just continuing my hobby through this.

Colors used are Pure Ice - Wild Thing (conveniently randomly picked using a number generator and my Polish Collection Spreadsheet) China Glaze - Peonies & Park Ave., NYC New York Color - French Tip White, and Rimmel London - Hot Black to Go.

Just Beachy

Oh my gosh this took so long to do, let me tell you. So I decided to do these at like 11:00pm last night, because nail art, y'know? So anyway, I start gradienting away and then setting up the water marble spotting stuff, and then these weren't done until about 1:00am. I didn't even bother cleaning up until today in the shower. But at least they came out nice! I used the elleandish tutorial off of youtube to get this look.

For the gradient I used China Glaze Kalahari Kiss, Shower Together and I Sea the Point. The sand with the starfish is Bare It All by Pure Ice and China Glaze Petal to the Metal. And the water spotting was done with a simple white (NYC New York Color French White Tip).

2 YEAR BLOGAVERSARY!

That's right!! Happy Birthday to The Cuticle Canvas. Today marks the first day of me starting to blog my nail art diary journey and when I first started getting in to nail art as a hobby. It's nice to be able to share my designs (mine or inspired by others) with you all through social networks. There's many more polishes to add to my ever growing collection (almost 300!) and many more designs to share with you all. Thanks for checking out my blog and supporting it!
